Nov 25, 2021

What are Modes in music? And how are they useful for songwriters? Are modes different than keys or scales?

We talk about all that in this video and dive into an overview of the general sounds of the 7 modes of the Major Key- Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, and Locrian.

The Ionian mode is the same as the Major Key and Aeolian is the same as the Minor Key.

Lydian is one shade brighter than Major.

Mixolydian is one shade darker than Major.

Dorian is one shade brighter than Minor or two shades darker than Major.

Phrygian is one shade even darker than Minor.

Let's talk about it!
