Advantages of Songwriting In The 1st Person Point Of View

Sep 04, 2021

1st person point of view is the most intimate point of view that doesn’t have a “you” within the song.

In other words, it’s the most intimate point of view that doesn’t put the listener into the world of a song.

1st person is a lot like a talking head in The Office. Yes, Michael Scott is telling you, the watcher, his point of view. But you aren’t in his office. You aren’t in his world. He’s telling you his experiences with others. You’re not a character in his story.

That is 1st person point of view.

This week, we are tackling some of the advantages of songwriting in the third person point of view.
